The 13th Colony is proud to have played a small part in Season 4 of The Handmaid’s Tale!
In February of 2020 we received a phone call from Peter Tammemagi who informed us he works for Gideon 4 Productions and they are currently shooting the next season of The Handmaid’s Tale! He found our website and saw that we had grey graniteware dishes that would be perfect for a specific scene. The dishes had to be sent via Fed Ex overnight to Canada!
After several phone calls Lanie and I went to work and made sure the dishes would be received the next day. Peter was very kind and wonderful to work with and I’ll also let you know that shipping was 5 times more expensive than the dishes! That’s show business!!
So when you watch Season 4 of The Handmaid’s Tale remember that The 13th Colony was part of it.
ROAD TO PERDITION
The 13th Colony was asked to supply antiques and other props to The Road to Perdition movie set. We even had the pleasure of visiting the movie set, a very old farmhouse in rural Illinois. The day we visited the set they were filming the young “Tom Hanks” as the car drove down the road to the old farmhouse. It took about two hours to get the final cut, we couldn’t believe how many times they did the same scene over and over and over. When “Tom Hanks” was finally able to take a break he played frisbee in the farm field!
We were able to go into the house and it was amazing to see what they did to the set. It was certainly a day we will never forget.
