Individually handcrafted in Ireland of solid brass with smooth Yew wood handles that fit comfortably in the palm of your hand. Many rug hookers will never use any other kind but Hartman. Measures about 4-1/2″ in length. The brass shank is about 2-1/4″ long and about 1/4″ in diameter where it meets the ball handle. The ball handle is yew wood with beautiful grain lines and smooth finish. Each hook is unique.
A Hartman hook is a great investment for primitive rug hooking. It is so easy to pull your loops through your backing fabric which makes it easier on your wrist. The wide (1/4″) metal shank is a great help in making the hole large enough for your 1/4″ wide (or wider) strips to slip through like butter.
